The Niagara Parks Commission initiated the design of the Niagara Parkway in Queen Victoria Park,
from Clifton Hill to Murray Hill, to coincide with the proposed upgrade of the sanitary trunk sewer designed
to accommodate the Fallsview Casino as planned by the City of Niagara Falls. The Commission
also took this opportunity to construct a new storm sewer system, which outlets to an exsiting drop shaft
located just north of Murray Hill.
To improve the aesthetics of the park, the on-street parking lanes were eliminated and the new road
sections reverted to two (2) 3.5 m lanes in both northbound and southbound directions, separated by a 3m
landscape boulevard and 2.4 m wide pedestrian pathways on each side.
