This project was initiated by the Region of Niagara, in order to widen Thorold Stone Road to four (4)
lanes, between Davis Road (Thorold) and Kalar Road (Niagara Falls), a distance of 3.9 km. This was
to meet existing and projected traffic demand as a result of detoured traffic from the QEW widening,
construction slated for 2008 to 2012.
The project was carried out under Schedule C of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment
Process which involved two public meetings.
